another wonderful set of drawings heidi! it's amazing how you creatively use flat shapes to create your unique characters... the usual soldity and depth of realistic drawing may be missing, but each character seems full of personality and attitude!

love those fish and bird designs, and especially the "not at all depressing" charcoal drawings! their simple, sincere, honest and raw look make them even more enjoyable! absolutely amazing what a simple piece of burnt wood can do!!! :o)

since you love to do character designs, i wonder how these characters would fare when posed on a model sheet, in all views...
isn't that a good test to check whether a character design works...??

At first I was in love with your work but now you are too good for me and I hate you!!
I hope one day you'll hate me as well.

Heidi, why are you in school, your stuff is there! I'm so impressed with your characters, the black and white stuff is great, you have your own distinct style, something most people never find let alone in school. I'd wish you luck but you're not gonna need any, take care.

Really nice original shapes & designs here Heidi. Great to see some none-computer art too-but HOW do you get such sharp edges to charcoal & pastel? Are you using a 'masking' technique of some kind?

Mad Max Winston said...

Heidi, seriously awesome stuff. I really like the Chicken and the Priest. You should make your films look like these drawings! I mean that in the best way, too. Cool shite!

Hola Heidi. Me llamo Diego y soy ilustrador, trabajo en Madrid (Tú eres de Valencia, ¿no?). Tus ilustraciones y dibujos son chulísimos, me encanta "The Magician". ¿Y cómo consigues que los pasteles te queden tan suaves? Yo lo ensucio todo! Bueno, te dejo mi blog: http://ponteadibujarvago.blogspot.com/
Chao!

i was all happy then for some strange reason i fell into a deep dark hole of depression! lol... kiddin' of course. ;) those fish were brilliant! brilliant in colour and in simply being what they are... fancy fish! :) that robin hood is a strong one! thanks again for stoppin' by my blog. you are my only comment on my facebook graffiti post and for that i thank you. ;) that application is so much fun; it's all about colour (and opacity levels)! about the 'ocd man, sassy squatch & nude lady' post... i'm rather fond of my nude ladies being loose. *groan* that was a sad sad attempt at being humourous... please forgive me. :P that yellow bird with the long legs is sweeet... would make for a nice poster or t-shirt!?! take care,... ~go

I really like your charcoal drawings. They have a great sketchy and scratchy style. For my money, the rabbis, the priest and the cigarette dude are my favorites.
You have some really great artists commenting on your art. That should be encouraging.

Hi Heidi,

I hope that you're aware of the fact that a danish chef, Anders Aagaard, is using one of your illustrations for his sign at his restaurant in Copenhagen. I didn't know if he was permitted to do so, so I thought it right to give you a link to a website that shows this: http://tinathomsen.wordpress.com/2009/07/28/tony%C2%B4s-try-it/

I really hope you see this!
